The connector is behind the rear arch liner and stays pretty clean and dry.

Have a look under the car at the rear trigger rings, looking for shiny bits where it has expanded due to rusting CV’s and fouled the sensor. That’s very common.

Re: Sics Consolidated Faded Moderns Thread - 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI & 2004 BMW Z4 2.2 & 2005 BMW 330i

But do you reckon the E85 will last as long as the Z3? I don't know much about the Z3 but the E85 (especially the pre facelift) seem very shonky electrically and then not easy to fix for the average person or even specialists doesn't want to get involved. That airbag module for example, Dealers wil...

Honestly, how long is left that you can pick up a relatively lightweight, small straight-6 convertible that makes a great sound for that sort of money? I don't think it will be much longer left we can bask in this sort of shite. E85's will be around for years yet. Like Z3's, they are still too nume...

Re: EBay Finds

Nobody wants them. Mark II’s have shot their bolt now and prices are tumbling. The S Type was always the ugly sister. They have no yoof appeal and anybody who wanted one has either had one or died.

Nice car etc but it needs to be under 10k.

Re: Sics Consolidated Faded Moderns Thread - 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI & 2004 BMW Z4 2.2 & 2005 BMW 330i

There's nothing on that which fits your Z4 alas. But a working 330i is okay and they certainly go well. ABS sensors: I only buy the cheapest on Ebay. No problems yet. The CCC unit for the iDrive will probably be buggered. 6 cylinder ABS units were always tricky and are expensive used. 4 cyl ones are...

Re: Sics Consolidated Faded Moderns Thread - 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI & 2004 BMW Z4 2.2

If the CCV system is original it will be completely fucked. Don’t buy cheap shit off eBay. Febi kits are OE. Take the inlet manifold off. It takes a bit longer but it’s easier. The Z4 engine is much easier to work on than the E46 as there is tons more room around the back of the engine. With the man...

Re: Y2k Jag XJ8

It'll be like those race engines where the blocks were left outside to weather as it reduced stresses. Damned if I can't which engines that was though. BMW 4 cylinder for the F1 turbo engines. It’s a myth. The F1 engines were built from high mileage M10 blocks. Rolls Royce V8 blocks were left for a...

Re: Sics Consolidated Faded Moderns Thread - 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI & 2004 BMW Z4 2.2

You really do need to fix that large gap in the backplate. If you don’t, it will suck road shit and water in.

All you need to do is cut a slot in the backplate and feed it around the hub. You need to weld a suitable bit of steel in.

Re: Sics Consolidated Faded Moderns Thread - 2006 Golf Mk5 GTI & 2004 BMW Z4 2.2

Cut and reweld is the best way. The rear wheel bearings never survive and you would have found the rear driveshafts rusted and seized into the rear hub anyway.
