I’m sticking with the 405STI wagon as it is nippy enough, comfy, good looking, banging stereo that adjusts the volume with your speed, and I could afford to run it under most circumstances.

If I manage to be awash with disposable (and had the 405 on standby) then a Ferrari 412.

Other than that, I spent a long while researching this in 2011 as I wanted to buy that very thing. Don’t think I went too far wrong with my E350CDi estate. I may not have regretted the 250 but upon seeing a 350 I would have felt regretful.

I think it also depends on how old you are and what littered your neighbours’ driveways when you were younger. This era of french cars does take me back to being a kid and figuring out how to tell a Renault 11 GTX from a TXE at a distance, and just how modern a 205 GR looked compared to a Austin Met...
