Re: Looking at a car, insurance history question... Cat C

I looked at a fairly recent kit car made on the 2CV chassis not long ago. From what I remember, a new chassis costs about the same as a slap up meal for the family followed by a trip to the pub with Paul afterwards. What do the connecting rods do, next to the shock absorbers on the front and back (o...

Re: Cars For Sale on the Roadside (not eBay)

I’m not sure if I have successfully transferred my addiction or if he’s just playing to his old Dad, but young Broccoli sent me this picture today. He must be out in the neighborhood on his bike!

Re: EBay Finds

Do it! Naturally I guess it'd be a LS swap... Does no title make it an issue to get on the road? Presumably an issue if exported too. Presumably the British Standard tag suggests it's been exported from the UK. (Maybe nicked too?) The area in the engine bay is so small (narrow) that fitting more th...

Re: EBay Finds

I’m fairly sure I posted about this, when it was on eBay around a year ago. Sold for $750 and was local. How I kicked myself afterwards for not buying it. F0F1590B-6F0A-4CC6-BC2B-FC0C85157706.jpeg Now I have another chance: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/305723052028470/?ref=search&re...

Re: What did you do today?

I’ve had days like that. Had a Cal look beetle with no bumpers back in the 80s. Reversing out of a parking spot in a multistory car park, I tweaked the front wing as I swung around to give someone waiting the space. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but the wing deformed and scraped itself all the more....

Re: EBay Finds

Couldn’t we have a whip round, return it to the government as they were all supposed to be and set it alight just as we hand it over?

It would be the decent thing to do.

Re: What did you do today?

Found another old treasure trove of old VWs locally. There were a bunch of old beetles and an oval windowed beetle. Again I was beaten to the car I would like (second refusal but more likely found a sucker that was willing to pay more than he was asking for it). IMG_5130.jpeg IMG_5129.jpeg IMG_5128....

Re: New NCAP lunacy

Children left behind in locked cars anywhere are another area where Euro NCAP is intervening, with a new requirement that five star cars must have Child Detection Systems that will monitor the car’s interior for the presence of an occupant, and will be able to notify the driver, or the emergency se...

Re: Electric vehicles, pros and cons. Have your say.

I think the acceleration is incredible and just for that, I’m looking into converting a classic at some point. The ideal would be to convert a tired S1 Lotus Esprit - but that’s just a little more of a pipe dream than converting the 912 or the Ghia. There are drop in kits for both, with regenerative...
