Re: The Last One!
That's lovely Jo, I would try to avoid a trip to Skeggy for chips in '76 I think that was the ladybird plague year to go with the sunshine.

Re: The Last One!
Yeah the ladybirds...! Forgotten about them. Folk said they bit but I never got bitten. Didn't go to Skeg that year but Camber Sands was friggin boiling hot. Unfortunately I had to get there in a Mini Clubman instead of a much cooler Cortina Super.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

Re: The Last One!
Jo or anyone want this ? I bought it at a fete yesterday , it was a mad rush grabbing car books ..I saw the words Car and Taunus and put it in my pile , but it's a modern Taurus! I have no interest in it, and JYS picture is in it so i'm never gonna read it now.. What is it an American Mondeo ?

- I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

Re: The Last One!
My dad bought two Cortinas in a row. The first was a pre airflow Consul Cortina in white and the second was airflow in Monza red. BHV258C. Both 1200 Deluxe both two door.

Re: The Last One!
I bought a 1963, 1200cc 4 door Consul in the autumn of 1976. It was a deep shade of green, and had a heater which I seem to remember was an option back in 1963.
The previous owner had modified it, with black, faux fur on the dash, door tops and seats. This had been stuck on with "Copydex" glue, so it all came unstuck easily without too much trouble, and I got the glue residue off easily enough. The seats were very plain black vinyl, with no real pattern stitched in
I bought it because it had an AM/ LW push button radio, 13 inch, four spoke RS alloys on it, and a remote change fitted to the gear lever tunnel. The gate on this was so narrow getting any gear was a lottery. Not that it mattered, as the clutch would slip like a bastard without the gentlest of touches on the accelerator.
Really liked that car, but a job with a company car came along 4 months later, which meant 19 COO was sold.
It was still in fair condition for a 13 year old car, when most cars that age back they had been bean cans for some time
