What did you do today?

Post by ghosty »

Just starting the thread off.

Mum's friend with the mk1 Granada was out cycling on Holme Moss today. No photos but I am informed he was passed by a minibus with the rear doors open, being followed by this:

turns out to be something called the Eadon Green Black Cuillin, a carbon fibre bodied V12... thing. Concept car and supposedly the only one in the world. Designed by a bloke called Felix Eaton (who was apparently also there), it was being filmed for German Top Gear.

They also have a V8 offering called Zeclat, based on a C7 Corvette.

More on topic, I also added Heko wind deflectors to the Civic to make it more usable in summer - it has a large glasshouse. This is to allow me to open the windows and increase airflow on hot days (no aircon; thankfully the T5 has it but needs servicing).
This is from experience: in the peak of summer last year, I had to drive up the M1 from Bucks to home. My white 416 was probably exceeding 40° inside, as it was 30° outside, and I had to stop at every given opportunity as the conditions inside the car were so bad I kept almost losing consciousness. It had an equally large glasshouse, and I couldn't open the windows as aside from getting buffeted, the headlining completely collapsed, obscuring my rear view and blowing decayed foam backing into my eyes. It was a horrible experience so anything I can possibly do to negate any such effects, I'll do.

Took one look at het glorious sunshine and took the MR Spyder - top down - and blasted along the 10mins to work with a big smile on my face.
Threw a couple of the spare staggered alloys for the 330 in the boot of the Jaaaag to drop off to the garage later tonight then looked under the 330 quickly
The fact the downpipe to centre/cat section gasket is hanging down in full view does not bode well! Shizstix

Went in the ST. Stupid exhaust is banging like a twat into the body and spring. I'll have to see not only a out changing the hangers but maybe getting some of that bandage stuff so when it does hit it don't clank as much.
These are some words.

Reposted from the old place because I didn't realise we'd moved house.

I fitted one of those devices that lets you play music through the CD changer port.

Premium Sound System is premium.
I do have the proper compartment for the changer but it's missing its bracket, and it looks like an awful scutter to fit.

Not sure if anyone remembers it but I drove it into a flood last year and bent a three rods. I removed the head and pistons and have done nothing else until today. Might put another in tomorrow if I get time

I had a decent day on Saturday. I managed to fit the second hand rear door to my Defender that I have had stashed away for about 3 years. The old one was rotten as a pear and even though the replacement is a slightly different shade of green it’s still a massive improvement. Then I fixed the not working fuel gauge on my Vespa. Simply been previously removed and replaced in the wrong position. I like a cheap fix.

Just a tangent, but I thought I’d throw this in.

Felix Eaton is crackers - in a good way. I’ve had a chat a few times with him, the back story is he's a shop fitter who made good. I think he’s made 3 cars in total for himself will make others if people want them, but isn't fussed either. A wobber with means basically. Eaton superchargers objected to his surname hence why its an Eadon not an Eaton. In Geneva he confirmed the new car was built as Rolls Royce re-body, but the legal team wouldn’t let him use the grill (shades of John Dodd’s Beast there).

Larger than life and once he’d pulled the wraps of the new Wraith based coupe pictured, noticed a huge lump of 2x4 under the prototype and kicked it in with his foot. Note hasitly sticking his own logos on the wheels and the lump of wood under the chassis
