Re: MGB GT fettling
I need mine servicing annually in order to retain the remainder of the 10 year warranty. It's done by a local firm with a good reputation and they also sort out a couple or so sticking thermostatic valves for free at the same time.

Re: MGB GT fettling
My Worcester is 3 years into a 10 year warranty (again with mandatory annual servicing). I have the best of both worlds at present - the service is done by the installing local plumber but warranty call outs (and there have been 3 so far, sad to say) are handled by W-B themselves. The first occasion was on Boxing Day 2020 and was handled instantly and satisfactorily.
I'm under no illusion that it won't shit itself at 10 years 2 months but I might consider additional "insurance" before that happens.

Ours has been fine, famous last words(!), over the last 3+ years. We needed a 50KW one and Worcester was the only one that seemed to fit the bill, it was replacing 2 adjacent boilers.

You want to get some insulation into that granny annex! I thought the biggest you could get from a normal supply was 35kwLynehamHerc wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 8:17 pm Ours has been fine, famous last words(!), over the last 3+ years. I had my Bosch Woosta fixed last week. I mentioned to the guy that I hadn’t had it serviced in five years and he said there’s often no point- if it works it works. It’s a 2007 unit so already getting on a bit.

Re: MGB GT fettling
The old Worcester oil boiler next door to me is at least 30 years old, still plods on. I suggested not having it serviced one year as it seemed odd that every time it was serviced (by the same plumber) it needed a new part. It wasn't looked at for another 5 plus years after that and carried on regardless.
Meanwhile, I went to see the mechanic who worked on the Inastate last, he helpfully started the conversation with "how can I help" to which I replied "I'm perplexed and I don't think you can"
He sat there fondling that nut for at least 5 minutes, he's now as perplexed as I am
Fuck only knows how it got there?!
