I don't think they did - my googling suggests they had the same 3 litre as the rest but detuned a bit.
Apparently the engine was loosely based on lopping 2 cylinders off a Rover v8 - but there isn't much similarity.

More detail and much spaculation on PistonHeads.

They seem to get a Throb On for putting an Audi engine in there FFS
You can already buy a Quatro with a German engine if that floats your boat.

A British Icon should have a British designed engine, by all means manufacture it in Germany if the UK has ditched the production facilities.
I agree,

Given that it's unlikely to be a daily driver and may not need to meet emission rules due to the low volumes one of the specialist race engine outfits could probably do something. I think Cosworth is still in business for example.
If not something like an Aston engine might be suitable.

I suspect that it won't be cheap so the cost of a decent engine shouldn't be a deal breaker.
IVA/SVA still requires to meet latest emission regs

I'm sure I used to read adverts in Autosport? and dream of one. Maybe they'd been converted later on to be cheaper or something?

Buick, hence P5B I believe.

They might have been part of GM, I don't know.

How can you not know that? You need to spend more time on car-nerd forums!

Looking at the VCA regs it appears low volume manufacturing, i.e. less than 1,000 per year may be exempt.
I can't be bothered following all the references though.

CO2 is only one type of emission. There is a whole load of others that need to be met.

CO2 is also regulated per manufacture and limits for average CO2 across all sales. Unless under exempt production numbers.
