On my Saab the cat had been replaced with a pipe. Took 5 minutes to replace just before MOT time, as whoever did it used high quality fittings.

The EML light never came on either, only at startup as it should. Always wondered if that was just a bulb on a timer.....

That's just reminded me of the old Bedfore TK horseboxes always used to have cages welded round the gearboxes to stop them being nicked for export.

I had a '99 saxo vts and fitted a cat delete pipe. Paid a garage £30 to change it over for me. Drove to the metrocentre with the most rediculous booming noise that was impossible to bear.
Drove back to the garage after shopping and got them to put the cat baxk on.
This was circa 2003.

EML light needs to illuminate to show its cycled its checks. The emissions kit doesn't come into play until certain temperature parameters a set, such as oil, coolant, etc. It's the same with Stop-Start. If you put the heating to max defrost for the windows, this over-rides stop-start functions.

I removed the cat from my MGF and its made no discernible difference. I bought a proper cat replacement section. It even passed it MOT.

I think this may have deleted the middle box too just leaving the rear stainless back box. It was 20 years ago! Seems like about 5.
It went like a stabbed rat with it fitted but I just couldn't bear the racket. It was painful.

Make it a deep box and then fill it with water.
