I much preferred the 600 over the R8 model though and I've had 2 other 414 SLI as well. I think that engine and trim was most common! I'd love another. Always wanted to try a TI or a 623 GSi. The rover 800 I regularly used to drive was even softer on suspension and that was a J plate 2.0 Si

Huge disappointment the interior when it came out relative to 200/400 let along 800. Aside from a flimsy cubby box to the right of the steering wheel, it was well built.angrydicky wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 10:14 pm Mine is mega comfortable even on the shit roads around here. It's also super reliable and not needy in the slightest. Always starts and gets the job done. I've got decent quality tyres on mine and the handling seems fine to me. Although my benchmark is fairly low with the other cars on the fleet. I also don't chuck it around much! Mine is a 1998 R reg, not sure if that has the revised suspension.
The only thing which lets it down imo is the interior, Rover made no effort to 'Roverise' it at all, being carried straight over from the Accord so it's very dull inside. But it's good quality.
The 75 is much nicer inside.

I’ve never owned an 800. Quite fancy a facelift 820 saloon but they’ve got expensive for what they are, and again it would do nothing the 600 wouldn’t do, but less reliably.bub2006 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 10:47 pm I much preferred the 600 over the R8 model though and I've had 2 other 414 SLI as well. Re: I need your help.
I like the idea of owning one but that's as far as it's got and will go as I'm completely incompetent with mechanicals and barely above that with electrics.
I'd much prefer a 3500 SD1 but that's unrealistic for me for those reasons and I've already got the camper and the MGB to keep on top of the rust battle.

Re: I need your help.
I’ve just been offered an early R8. 214 SLi on a G reg.
It’s been parked up since 2017 when the owner died. It looks ok apart from terrible lacquer peel.
It’s pretty much one owner from new (bought when three months old) and it has a massive folder of history and 34k on the clock.
I’m interested but I’d be looking to get a test on it and move it on, I don’t need an R8.

Re: I need your help.
Today turned out to be more difficult than it should have been. I got back from the sites later than I wanted. The Iveco is going in for its test next week, so I gave that a good wash. I washed the Insignia, but by the time I finished, I was losing the light. I didn't want to take photos in semi darkness, so I left it for today. If I'm not doing much tomorrow, I'll nip down the yard and take some. Sorry people, I just ran out of time today.

Re: I need your help.
The download lead went missing, but I just found the bugger. Hopefully these pics came out alright.
Things I noticed:
The grill badge is missing.
The rear wiper blade is bolloxed.
Very slight crease in the nearside rear quarter - pictured.
Chip in windscreen which looks like it's been repaired and stabilised.
Door shuts need a clean as does the hatch shut.
