Cars you forgot you owned.

Post by NorfolkNWeigh »

I was just looking at a Swedish Volvo 140 magazine on Readly when I was reminded I actually owned a Volvo 140 GL in 1986. Nit sure of age, but I think it was an earlier small bumper car. It was gold as most of them were with black leather. It was a manual o/d and had a factory sunroof. I don’t remember where I bought it from, probably a banger trade in from our local Lada/Yugo place, neither can I remember where it went after me. I do remember changing the steering wheel for a smaller one out of a 240 in a scrappie, also it had some sort of fuel problem that meant it cut out when hot and only restarted after half an hour.
I think the fact I had it at the same time as my S1 XJ6 2.8 M/od meant it was never going to be my first choice for long journey and didn’t help in making it memorable .

Anybody else got something in their car history that they struggle to remember?

There’s a Volvo 145 in my car past. I wish I could forget the hateful, knackered, rotten, joyless and broken heap.

I would like to forget a VK Commodore, fucking useless thing, auto with the black 202 engine (3.3l). Dire by the time we got it.
Replaced by an auto 2.0 Sierra Estate, better in every way.

There are a lot I wish I could forget, number 1 spot was the Chrysler Le Baron. I hated that car even more than this Jensen GT I have now.

I have had too few to forget rather than too many to remember....I suppose the Mini Mayfair I had was most forgettable in terms of it having played no part in my life other than starting and stopping as required. Got it cheap and was offered one of the very few profits I've ever turned on a vehicle so I let it go after a few weeks.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

I can’t help thinking I own at least one car that I’ve forgotten about and it’s still on a mates driveway or in a lockup somewhere.

Inbetween dailying an E reg volvo 240 estate and a K reg Peugeot 405 SRI, I was briefly encumbered with an L reg Citreon Xantia. Easily forgettable and scrapped after about 6 months.

If I had a car I've forgotten then I don't remember it.

I had too many at one time, think it was 9? So I had them dotted about in garages, car parks and out of the way.
One was half of a pair of MK1 Fiestas my friend's mum gave me - other than being Terracotta and having PME in the reg, I can't remember anything about it. It vanished from where I parked it, either nicked or towed by the council
