This ^^^ we are managing but money is a constant worry yet I see people in similar positions to ourselves spending like there's no tomorrow.

Thanks for asking. To be honest, I’ve kind of given up with it. Crazy to say on a car that’s not quite 6 months old.

Third gear still refuses to go in - so I just force it in and now 5th is starting to hate me too.

It runs like a manual choke car with too much choke out when it’s first started.
The tickover revs bouncing around 2500rpm and then pushing you along for the first couple of miles. I tend to just push the clutch in, so I’m not doing 40 around home and the local park as I go off to work in the morning, but at the moment I leave the house between 5:30 and 6:00 (if I’m running late) every week day, the neighbors must think I’m useless bAstard that can’t drive. (Probably true) with the engine revving so high.

The windshield was broken about two weeks ago (part of my daily drive is along a highway where quarry trucks use a 3 or 4 miles stretch of it in some sort of circuit) and I’m waiting for the 10k mile service and I’ll have them replace it and look at the revving and gearbox problem again. I’m at 9k and change, so won’t be long.

The electronic error sign comes up when I start it, but goes away afterwards. Something else that I want them to look at.

It’s doing about 28 to the gallon and I’m enjoying listening to my audiobooks on the Apple car play.

I found out that they changed the CPU on these cars during Covid and mine is one of the first of the new ones. Another owner I know here with a manual Jeep Gladiator has the same over revving issue and has the same CPU as mine.

I’ll just keep pushing it and make sure the warranty covers everything. Once the warranty is close to out, I’ll chop it in.

It’s fun and great with various panels, roof and doors off. But I just wish it worked a bit better and had a bit more ‘go’ to it.

Went to see a different painter yesterday.
Super nice guy, doing it in a big barn, out in the back of his property.
A bunch of retired gents roll in and out, working on cars with him and between them have done some pretty cool cars.

He has a 57 Chevy estate thing in (which had acres of metal to it) and a 57 two seater thunderbird.
A good few other cars going through, another muscle car in his spray booth which he took me around and a 40 Ford pickup in primer at the block sanding stage.

A Triumph stag he did, won an award two weeks ago in Minneapolis at a classic car show in the convention center.

He said he can put me on his list, but the current cars wouldn’t be done until Spring 2023 plus or minus to the summer.
What I really liked was him saying that I was more than welcome to come down and get my hands dirty and help out with some of the less skilled stuff if I wanted. Offered to knock money off if I did!

He is also half the price of the other place and with him showing me areas of the cars he had there and what he had done, it seemed like a win. Super nice guy too.

He says he has done some lightly modified cars to the owners taste too and showed me a few customers cars done to their requests. This is one:

Hopefully he is going to drop over one weekend in October to have a look at the 912. 8-)

As long as he wasn't responsible for those wheels.... Can't believe the trouble you are having with a brand new vehicle though!

The wheels are the least of the problems with that Interceptor. Who thought that headlamp arrangment was a good idea.

Covid car issues seem to be rampant with cars from that year and a half by all accounts.
Just the fact that they swapped out the CPU during the time says a lot - probably a shortage so though this CPU would work.

As for the Jenson, yes the headlights are BAAAD, but did you see the mess that the interior had wired in?
Great quality paint and bodywork (if you can keep from being drawn in to the actual ‘style’).

Wouldn’t it have been stunning if it was stock!

As I’m in a grumpy mood and yet gain, going to be working away from home this weekend, I thought I would post this here and have a moan…

Bought this back in September and dragged it back to the cave September 28th. Really happy to finally achieve the dream of owning a Ghia after wanting one since my late teens.

She is far from perfect, but with a small amount of loving, should be a great driver.

It’s now Oct 19 and I’ve had jobs to do for the family, or for work, every damn weekend since I bought it. And this coming weekend is going to be no different - working away from home. The weekend after that I have a 4:00 am start and a long morning for work already. The 30th being my first full day off.

I haven’t driven the Ghia more than 10 feet to move it from one spot in the garage to another.
