Interesting and flawed car.
Still can’t ensure the best weather though!

So what's good and bad about it then?

It'll be quick, light and handle like fuck.
Cramped, noisey and poor visibility with bone jarring suspension.

Dawlish Wareen probably had better visibility!

Pretty much what Paul said but…
The handling was iffy due to the square footprint of the car. It’s as wide as it is short.
Went like hell in a straight line, and kept going even when you took your foot off the pedal - I think the turbo needed a better dump valve system.
Brakes would have been great on track but too on - off for traffic.
Great car to borrow though. They only had just had it in and only 1400 on the clock.

Highway 1 in a convertible has been on my bucket list for a long time.
Not sure I will ever come to San Francisco again (other than if work sends me). So dirty and so many homeless people on the streets. It used to be a great city too.

Funny, someone I know was down at the beach and was complaining about the clouds. It's not meant to be clouds!

I got sunburned on the beak from the open top bus on the first day (even though I put sunscreen factor 55 on in the morning - should have reapplied it) so a little cloud cover was alright with me. Could have done without the rain though!

Since being back from San Francisco, I’ve been trying to catch up with everything I should have been doing, the week that I was away.

Jnr back to school and with a few other things going on at home and work, barely time to shave, shower and sh!t in the morning.

I had a letter from the DMV saying that they had lost all of the paperwork for the Caterham (I knew it went too easily) and did I keep copies? After queuing for an hour at one office, they sent me to another for another queue.
The woman I spoke to there asked me why I was so calm about it - well she didn’t lose it, so why should both of us have a bad day??? She put a nice memo in to the system for me and now I just have one document to get re-signed.

In other news, I dropped in at the place who gave me a quote to paint the 912. As we started to talk, they started to push the price up on anything they could.
‘Oh, you wanted the door jams painted too on your bare metal, different colour respray? That will be another $2500. Well, if you want to reuse the brightwork, then it’s going to cost an extra $2500 as we will have to take care removing it… oh, you want to drop it off on a Wednesday? Oh that day has a $2500 surcharge as the local cafe only sells fish suppers on that day.

I wouldn’t care, but it was already the thick end of $$$$ too much. And that was for their ‘cheapest colour.’

Strangely, the two cars that were in front of me for resto this winter have become mechanical only jobs.

Needless to say, I’m off and shopping again this week.

Sounds like they don't want the work.
I think their initial price was also taking the piss.

I think your right.
Off to see a place on Friday that does nothing but bodywork.
Earliest they can do anything is spring or summer next year.

Honestly, I consider myself exceptionally lucky on the finance front, but I have no idea where all the money comes from that people seem to be so free to spend. Even basic cars, let alone sports cars and non-essentials like this. Mine is my once in a lifetime gig and then it’s going to take me years of saving to afford.
