Aye a TT will do for us as there's still another 3 full 4/5 seaters on fleet.
Next job is to take my red 93 to Gingernutzz to have the Y brace under the floor welded. Pencilled in for mid February. I could just leave it as it's a very small piece and it'll probably not be picked up at the MOT but it's a nice car and worth doing in my opinion.

I prefer the sticker you see when the boot lid is open warning you not to smash the skulls of the rear seat passengers when you close it.

Re: Fleet Occurrences
I sold the black 93 via the beige. I had 5 messages over the space of a day which I was quite surprised about. It was collected last Saturday with no issues.
I bought this from the beige and collected it from Warrington yesterday. The round trip from Central Scotland actually went really smoothly. My train was bang on time. It's a quattro 225 which is apparently the one to have. I'd have been happy with a 180 2wd - it's all the same to me.
For the money I'm pretty pleased with it. There are a few small issues like a minor coolant leak from a plastic union above the gearbox to sort and a tendancy to hesitate a touch under hard acceleration prior to coming on boost. Over all though it's very honest and tidy. My wife will be the main user of it so I quite fancy another for myself as I have gelled pretty well with it. Plus I'd still have the 75 for family stuff.
My red 93 is off for some welding tomorrow. I'm looking forward to driving it there as I haven't used it for a while.

Re: Fleet Occurrences
He also sorted the snapped bolt in the driver seat and it's now properly secure! I was going to sell it but I think I need as much of my fleet to be reliable at the moment, see below.
The TT, well, its lovely but I'm starting to really regret selling the reliable Saab now. The Audi has a significant misfire under hard acceleration, really bad. Mid throttle its fine though and as my wife is never likely to exploit all 225bhp I'm just leaving it alone for now. I won't be driving it much at all as its mainly for her to use. The O2 sensor is also dicky and the EML keeps coming back on after I turn it off, so I'll need to fix that too. That plus the coolant leak from around the temperature sensor.
I've been here before with my old 2007 Bini. I really hate German cars from the 00s. That's coming from a bloody Rover owner too. My old Audi 80 was brilliant though, what happened?
Thankfully I have access to full VCDS now so that will really help me identify the issue.

Re: Fleet Occurrences
I was surprised you bought it tbh as it has had a few issues - like that misfire was kept being reported. As you might imagine, I'm also never convinced on bodges like catch cans either.
O2 sensor I think is a wideband sensor on these if BAM. Maybe the wrong type of sensor has been put in? What's the exact code it's giving?
I'd much rather trust a 1.8t than a Prince engine Bini anyday of the week. They have their problems but they are far less likely to leave you stranded.
It's why I bought my exact car. Yes it had a few things needing to be sorted but it boosted smoothly (albeit less than it should in hindsight because of that shit aftermarket MAF) and generally drove okay with no warning lights. That was a higher priority and to be a reliable car than whether it was a 225 or 180.

Re: Fleet Occurrences
Misfire on hard acceleration is usually ignition related as it struggles more when put under higher load. I know the last owner inadvertently bought fake NGK. I wonder if these damaged the coils too. These engines are notorious for eating coils.
I think VCDS tells you misfire counts on which cylinders. Will be worth checking that and seeing if it's particular ones or all. How much would it to parts dart for plugs and coils from a reputable source?

Re: Fleet Occurrences
I'll get VCDS sorted out on my laptop and have a chat with it and hopefully get to the bottom of the issue. For now my ancient Ebay scanner has reported P1030 so it's also a recurring issue that I was half led to believe had gone away.
I read the thread and the seller also seemed convinced the misfire gone so I had no reason to doubt it. It was previously at idle and it does idle perfectly now and under normal driving its fine. But if it was me driving it I'd find it pointless not being able to exploit the power. I suspect the replacement coils, which didn't cure a previous misfire are shit and cannot cope with a heavy request for spark. Thankfully I have the original VAG ones so might fire those back in. I'll also Google how to 'test's coil via VCDS and see if they're doing what they should.

Re: Fleet Occurrences
Do you know anyone with a working 1.8t anything nearby? Swapping in a known good is a easy way of parts darting without costing money.
Shit and duff plugs certainly can kill or weaken coils.
Side advice, if you're ever changing to any new coil, always change the plug while you are at it.

Re: Fleet Occurrences
P1030 I can't remember what the code is but a quick Google says on VAG it's MAF related?
They're easy enough to test. If running better disconnected then it's at fault.
