Re: Back Advice
Get your existing seat rebuilt with decent padding by somebody who knows what they are doing. Alternatively I find 4x4s and vans more comfortable to drive
Have you spoken to anyone about the pain? A sports massage physio did more for me in a month than 10 years of doctors and NHS physio.

Re: Back Advice
I have lower back issues that a long journey can be spoiled by. I had a Rover 75 a few years ago that enabled a 10 hour stint that was only punctuated by convenience breaks. It was a Connoisseur SE spec so had the nice seats.
I could also recommend an XJ40 (over an X300 and later) for this ailment. I suspect a R75 may be kinder on the finances though.

Re: Back Advice
Thinking about this, I found an Omega very comfortable, MGZT I was very stiff after 3 hours, Lexus RX300 ok, Ford Maverick 2 on par with the Omega
Laguna leather seat in the van I find comfortable

Re: Back Advice
Good call on the Omega. The CD spec with the velour seats was a nice comfy place to be but I had one of those many years before the tragically stupid episodes that gave me the bad back.

Re: Back Advice
Wonder if adapting another seat to the R8 is worth pursuing? Not going to pretend it would be easy, but if car is all good otherwise? The Minor crippled me driving it to Cornwall one weekend and I seriously considered its future until I put some Metro GTa seats in it.

Re: Back Advice
I know that a lot of VW t2 owners have replaced the standard ones with MGF seats, maybe these would fit?

Surprised nobody has mentioned these yet.

Re: Back Advice
Are these beaded seat covers any good? I'm guessing not.
The worst seat I've experienced was in a Skoda Octavia. It wasn't particularly uncomfortable but I could barely walk after only a couple of hours.
Is the R8 seat in good condition? If any of the frame or springs are pushing through it will cause problems.

Re: Back Advice
600 or 800, but only the sport models with Recaro front seats. You simply cannot beat a Recaro, unless you are a fatty. They were the only seat approved by some federation or other
