I think it's down to the vast majority of them being fair weather toys, so it's not an issue for most owners.

Talking about big bikes anyway, not 125s that transport the third world and China.

Only reason that makes sense to me is bikes aren't built to be used outside. Get rain, or worse salt, on them and they rot in no time.

I'd expect the school to cover the damage too, I'm sure the place I learned did. They did have a two crashes and ya back on a 125 policy for DAS students though.
